We’ve had a number of rabbit losses since Lucky died. Delilah hasn’t been seen in about a month, 2 more after Lucky got run over right in front of our house, and one was found dead in one of the shelters with no apparent signs of injury. I’m most upset about Delilah. I picked her out & named her, she had the cutest babies with the tiniest ears. At least Samson is still around.

This evening when I went out to round everyone up for the night, I found Sparta wandering around the backyard with Damien following her. It looked like he was making sure she was protected, like he was her bodyguard, trailing behind her just far enough to give her space but close enough in case there was trouble. It was pretty funny, especially when she ran after me to get extra snacks before I spread them out for everyone.

Odysseus also had a funny reaction to me today. When I opened the main pen up so everyone could come & go as they pleased, Memnoch did his usual Alpha thing & tried to dominTe the flock. He just looked at Odysseus & made Ody freak out. He freaked out so much that he flew up on top of my head to get away from Mem. This isn’t the first time he’s run to me for protection, which kinda cracks me up since he still likes to attack my legs & act tough when Memnoch isn’t around but he knows that Memnoch is subordinate to me & I won’t let Mem attack him.

We also found out today that Damien has been wandering around the roof of the house. No one knows when he was up there, but apparently it was multiple trips. Dad also found him in the neighbour’s garage. Across the street. He’s a nosy bird, but I’d prefer it if he stayed on our side of the street after the 3 rabbit deaths.

Birds aren’t as dumb as a lot of people think they are & they have a lot more personality, too.

One egg today & it’s a little bit of a strange one. It was covered in these light pink spots. Not sure who laid it or if the spots are a normal thing, but it is a small egg & the spots wouldn’t wash off.
