I woke up this morning with a pain so bad in my upper back/right shoulder blade, that it was difficult to breath. I had a similar thing happen to me about a month after I got out of hospital. The good things about it this time around was that I’m not newly recovering/rehabbing, I’m not in a wheelchair & relying on my upper body 100% & the pain meds & muscle relaxants work better now since I had weened myself off them. So, I stayed home from work since I couldn’t move without peeing a little from pain.

(no, not really)

I was able to be around to put the frozen 2 liter soda bottles into the pen & Big House around the time it was getting hot & dry. It wasn’t the hottest we’ve had this summer, but it was very still, no breeze/wind & went from humid in the morning to bone dry around 1PM. The Ithakē ladies always act like the frozen bottles are a wonder. Ava’Dara is either hiding out in the Big House’s nesting boxes like the babies did for the first month or so of being outside exclusively or she’s broody. She hasn’t laid any eggs (that’s expected after the stress of being put into a new flock) & she let me even let me pick her up out of the nest for the evening free range. I’ll just have to wait & see.

On the plus side, she let me pick her up out of the nest! It’s taking her way less time than I thought it would for her to start trusting me.

Speaking. Of the evening free ranging, the 3 Amigas came out into the extended pen (about 2/3 finished) through the main pen! This is the first time they’ve done that. They usually wait in the Big House for me to open the coop door & then just stay right around the coop. This evening, they even explored the entire extended pen area before making their way back around to the coop. I was so proud of them. Ava’Dara even scratched around before having me put her back in the main pen to hide from Odysseus.

Things are going okay so far.
