These 2 have been named Vane & Flint. So far, they seem to be enjoying not being stuffed into a small cage inside a house. I’m still not sure if both are males, but I’m dying to name someone after 2 of my favourite pirate captains & my mom hasn’t named them. So. I named them.

Samson & Delilah have also been getting more comfortable with their new pen & each other. They are so cute! I haven’t been able to handle Vane & Flint yet, but Samson & Delilah especially let me pick them up.

Penelope had to come in for a wash & scrub. I don’t know if it’s the type of feather configuration the hens have or their roosts not being high enough off the floor of the coop or both, but every so often since I got them I’ve had to do a bit of chicken behind cleaning. Just as a general rule of thumb, it’s not a good thing to have poop accumulating on the butt. For anyone, animal or human. It’s just bad. So, I needed to bring her in & let her soak in some warm water until I could work the the waste off her feathers. She’s the most chill hen I have, but when her wings ended up getting wet she did panic a little. And fling poop water in my face. It’s a good thing I like animals. Anyhow, the funny/scary thug was when I got her out of the little wash bin onto a towel, her balance was thrown way off because of her tail being soaked. I panicked a bit because it’s kinda scary to see an animal you don’t have much experience with kind of teeter-totter before stumbling around. As soon as I got her tail dried, she was fine & went back outside with the rest of the flock to air dry.
