The hawk was back this morning. It was trying to snag a rabbit from behind the barn. It even buzzed my head as it flew right towards my face & then off to other fields.

The flocks didn’t get free run today since I had to go to my Day Job & Sparta let her displeasure about this be known by refusing to stay in the chicken yard. She kept escaping under the fence, then she flew up to the top of the Big House & main pen instead of going up for the night. When she finally decided to come down, she hopped off the main pen & right onto my cleavage. Well, at least it’s good for something.

Sleeping arrangements are getting rough lately. I definitely need to get a peafowl shed built soon. I suspect this is the main reason Sparta doesn’t want to go up for the night lately. She’s the smallest so she gets pecked on when she tries to roost near most of the other hens. If she can’t get next to Nyx or Lila, scuffling starts. I suspect if I move Richmond & Dalton into their own coop with Damien, that’ll ease tensions in the Big House. The Section 20 ladies are getting bigger & that coop was made for chickens not peafowl.

Damien is dropping a major amount of feathers. Most of them are tiny fluff feathers or the longer fluff feathers that make up his train right now (the feathers that will eventually have the eye patterns on them), but some times he drops some serious feathers like these ones. I’m going to attempt to make quill pens out of them. Hopefully, I won’t cock up all of them in my crafting project.
